Member Spotlight: Renee Sandoval

Renee Sandoval is an artist working and living in Detroit. She began her formal study of design and photography at Wayne State University where she earned her BFA. She began an internship at Salt & Cedar Letterpress Studio while at WSU, where she worked under internationally acclaimed artists Megan O’Connell and Leon Johnson. Renee exhibited her senior thesis project, Girlcore, an editorial emphasizing the importance of gender equality and body positivity at 4731 Art Gallery.

Post graduation, Renee began to take on freelance projects with local small businesses around Detroit while saving up to travel overseas and broaden her view of what it means to be an artist outside of her hometown. In addition to design and photography her passions include illustration, mixed-media collage, editorial design, and wholesome cooking on her days off.
