A Look Back at Student Portfolio Day 2013

The design job hunt is no easy task; being prepared with an amazing portfolio, expert advice, and moral support can help your journey into the wild kingdom of design go smoothly.

On March 23, approximately 80 students came from across Michigan to the annual AIGA Detroit Student Portfolio Day, held this year at Michigan State University in East Lansing. Taking on the theme of an African safari, the official name of the review was “Student Portfolio Expedition: Where The Creatives Roam”.

In addition to signing up for one-on-one portfolio reviews from among the 35 design professionals present, students heard from keynote speaker Maria Janosko, participated in breakout sessions on graduate school, building a résumé and compiling a great portfolio, and we able to quiz a panel of young professionals.

Thanks again to all of the volunteers and portfolio reviewers for making this years’ Portfolio Day a success! Keep an eye out for the location and details for Portfolio Day 2014, coming this spring!
