AIGA Post: Call For Artists

AIGA Toledo and AIGA Detroit are teaming up to bring you a new socially-distant exhibition of local artist and designer talent! You are invited to participate in an opportunity to design a limited edition postcard to be sold in packs with a portion of all proceeds going to a local charity.

This project was born from a convergence of several of 2020’s curveballs: quarantine keeping people apart (physically and emotionally); a desire to continue to showcase local artist & designer talent in the safest manner possible; and the threat of the privatization of the United States Postal Service, an integral pillar of communication and connection for Americans everywhere.

This year’s project theme of “Where Are You?” carries two meanings: while the theme focuses on a literal interpretation of where you are physically in the world right now, it can also be read as a question of where you feel like you are emotionally or mentally.

How it works:

1.) Artists and designers submit a portfolio or work samples to take part in AIGA: Post. Jurors from each chapter determine who will be selected to work on the next phase. Artists of all backgrounds are invited to apply.

Deadline for Submission: October 2st

2.) Once selected, artists and designers will have 1 month to create a 4”x6” postcard sized piece of artwork centered on the project’s theme of “Where Are You?” All mediums are encouraged, as long as it fits within the AIGA: Post template to be provided.

3.) Postcards will be available for pre-order purchase in November. AIGA Toledo and AIGA Detroit, in partnership with a local printer, will package and ship orders for all pre-orders, with a portion of all proceeds going to our selected charity. Remaining postcard packs will also be available for purchase in person with participating retailers.
