Member Spotlight: Michael Nykamp

As a creative director, designer and illustrator, Michael Nykamp guides organizations to create thoughtful, compelling experiences through design and illustration.

Formally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Michael studied Fine Art, Illustration and New Media Design at Sheridan College, there he earned a Bachelor of Design degree. Currently, he resides West Michigan. His company mkn design is a small, but experienced design and illustrative studio that works with design-driven organizations like; Herman Miller, Patagonia, X-Rite/Pantone and Whirlpool. Michael specializes in visual identities, printed matter, interactive experiences and illustrative solutions–which he applies critical thinking, creative strategy, process and empathy to solve design problems.

In his down time, Michael illustrates for his blog, Chronicles. He also is the co-founder of The Illustration League which is a west Michigan based network of illustrators who teach, exchange, and enhance the ideas and practices of professional illustration. In addition, Michael mentors independent illustrators and designers.
